In this episode, Veronica, Ron, and Sean kick off the new show with a bang. First they introduced the first of two review segments with Norm “No Relation” Hensley, Ninety Seconds with Norm, in which Norm reviewed the classic, Runepunk. Then they played Ron and Veronica’s conversation with Norm, Clint Black, and Sean Preston about Savage Worlds design philosophy. Next it was time for Norm’s full review of Weird War II. Finally, the crew revealed the details for the first contest at the Grill. The prize? Listen up to find out!

Great launch, guys! I really enjoyed this first episode. Your points regarding design philosophy really helped me realize some things about my own setting project (as well as with my Savage Eberron conversion). I almost wish I could have been a part of the conversation as someone working on his first attempt at a Savage Worlds setting.
I’m planning on putting up an audio review of this first episode on The Dice of Life. I’ll let you know when it’s up.
Good show, mates! I got a lot of great ideas from it. Thanks!
Great show! And thanks for the kind words. I can’t wait for the next installment.

Glad to hear this is out and am anxious to listen, but I had a devil of a time finding it. Not at rpgpodcasts.com, not on iTunes, no rss feed, no link from TGTT web site. Don’t make me come over there to AZ and school you on marketing. Publicize this thing!
Hey Doc,
On one hand, you have a point. On the other, this show is less than 24 hours old as of this writing. Since it’s a Savage Show, I started out with promoting it on the PEG Forums, my Twitter account, and my Facebook page, all of which contain links directly to the site. That said, the RSS link is now up, and there’s a placeholder for the iTunes feed, as I’m still awaiting their approval process. I’m not sure if I will be doing RPGPodcasts; I’ll have to talk to Ryan about that.

Hey Ron, Veronica, Norm, et al.
Great first show! I’m working up a capsule review for it for The Savage Blogger (http://savage-blogger.blogspot.com/) that should be up by tomorrow afternoon. By the way, do you have Norm’s blog URL so I can include a link to it?
Norm’s blog is here: http://savageboldfistblog.blogspot.com/

Thanks Ron!
Ron, I recommend listing the podcast on ZENcast.com, too. Also note that Google Reader will pull it up when searched. You must be logged in to a Google Account for this URL to work:
https://www.google.com/reader/view/?tab=my#directory-search/savage%20worlds%20podcast//0
It’s on the second page of results (for now).
Great job, guys! As usual. Really, great tunes.
Just an update: there are now iTunes and RSS feed links on the right-hand column of the site.
Excellent conversation. Helpful reviews.
But, that intro and exit are just too long for me. They don’t add anything but time to the pod cast for me.
I would listen to more podcasts in general if they were all shorter.
But, well worth the listen.
Dr. Checkmate, I’m glad you liked the show. I think this episode went long, too. Without editing, it would have been about 30 minutes longer. Our plan is to have shorter shows, but not at the cost of great content. Regarding the intro and exit, they’ll be staying. For everyone who doesn’t like it, there are those who do. In the end, we were tickled pink when Matt and Blake agreed to create an original song for this show, and we also happen to think the song is awesome. Think of it as 2:35 that remind you there are Savages out there who have spent time, creativity, and money to entertain and inform you for free. Keep it Savage!

As promised, I just posted my capsule review on The Savage Blogger. (Just click on the name to fine me.) Sorry it tool longer than expected but I had some issues while upgrading my computer to Windows 7. YES! DIE VISTA! DIE DIE!!!!
…Oh, I’m sorry… I think I blacked out for a moment.
Smiling Jack’s was pretty much the most amazing podcast I’ve heard. Keep up the good work guys!
Wonderful first podcast! I’ve been running SW since the first edition of the rules came out. Just a thought: One thing that I love about SW plot point books is that … with other companies’ game supplements, there’s a lot of neat stuff to read about, but only a fraction ever gets used at the table. With SW settings, I use EVERY SINGLE BIT of those books at the table, and thus get a lot more use for my gaming (buying=voting) dollar.
Great that the show is out, I have been anticipating it for quite a while now. However, I still hope to get “The Game’s the Thing” which is about the only podcast I listen to regularly, and the only one I actually archive.
Fantastic launch! I enjoyed every minute of the show. Norm’s Ninety Seconds was pretty good. The roundtable talking about Savage Worlds’ premise/philosophy was great. It was good to hear from all the guys. The discussion brought up several things that intrigued me, Evernight in particular. This one seems to exist under the radar. How about a show on it? It sounds like an interesting setting and I would like to learn more about it. I appreciate the intro on what Pinnacle looks for in a new setting. How the idea is executed, is it vivid, does it contain or spawn ideas, does it have layers, and lastly is it a good story — I can see all of these in the settings I have been exposed to so far. I would like to echo Norm. One of the big things that attracted me and still attracts me to Savage Worlds is that it is a quick system. I’m busy and though I really enjoy hacking systems and building my own worlds, it is very helpful for actual gaming to have the materials ‘ready to go’. The addition of all the free material is a hook that keeps me visiting the PEG site. I’m looking forward to playing Savage Mars and Savage Space 1889. These look like a lot of fun. 1889 reminds me of Full Light, Full Steam – which is fun. I do have a question for the team. How do you adapt existing material from literature, like say, Sherlock Holmes or some of Jules Verne’s work to SW? A discussion on this would be fun and interesting.
Anyway, thanks for doing Smiling Jack’s. I look forward to the next show.
See you at MACE.

Great first podcast. TGTT was the only podcast I regularly listened to, and SJB&G continues the tradition of being both information-laden and easy to listen to. (Without all the inside jokes that many podcasts tend to rely on.)
Can’t wait to hear more!
